Science in meter and verse

Edited by Dava Sobel
When two rivers meet,

they at times wait to combine.

The murky sediment load carried by one particular

retains its length from

the clear blue-environmentally friendly of the other.

Just about every reflects the coloration

of the landscape it has carved,

occasionally with caution,

and from time to time with turbulence.
Steep canyon partitions bear witness

and scars of the constant descent

of h2o molecules pulled by gravity,

eroding crystals and grains, thirsty clay particles

that tumble and drift in the movement.

The rivers emerge and meander

absent from the rugged mountains

and towards just about every other,

starting to unburden their hundreds.
The distinctive paths turn into just one,

and the denser stream ducks below,

hiding its sedimentary earlier

alongside the line of mixing,

exactly where eddies examination the waters.

Clouds and clarity

enhance each other,

and, with time,

dispersion and mixing

change the recent into equilibrium.
