Abstract

To address teenage learners’ hazard of HIV, STIs and pregnancy, good high-quality faculty-dependent sexuality education and learning is of great significance. In this paper we handle Zimbabwean youthful people’s construction of sexual intercourse and sexuality training. We draw from semi-structured personal interviews carried out with forty-seven teenage boys and ladies aged amongst 15 and 19 years in two rural faculties in Zimbabwe. The study’s conclusions propose that young adults make sense of sexual intercourse and sexuality training inside dominant discursive frameworks that worry the worth of sexual innocence and abstinence, with the sexuality of teenage girls getting specific surveillance. Even so, the learners in our review also occupied positions which advised younger people’s sexual company further than innocence. In the gentle of these contradictions, young adults in Zimbabwe are caught up in manufacturing both sexual innocence and sexual agency, generating abstinence only instruction irrelevant to their day to day lives. Implications for potential sorts of sexuality schooling and teenagers’ sexual company in rural Zimbabwean education are proposed.
